Description
Black Murder marks the first wound. Here the beast enters the room for the first time, still feral, still unfinished, still more instinct than form.
Nothing refined survives on this recording. There is no polish, no balance and no distance between impulse and execution. Instead, what you hear is primitive hatred fixed to magnetic tape, the sort of material that feels less written than unleashed. It does not build atmosphere in the modern sense. Rather, it leaves scars.
Its value is not only historical, although that matters. This recording carries the early pressure of a project that would become poisonous in all the right ways. You can hear the mid-90s French underground in its refusal, its abrasion and its total contempt for softness. That spirit, however, remains fully intact.
For listeners of Mütiilation, Torgeist, Vlad Tepes and early Judas Iscariot, this edition sits in the right cursed space. Even so, it is not just a reference point. It still works as a living object of hostility, ugly and immediate enough to bite now just as it did then.
The 2023 reissue comes on pro-tape with J-card and sealed presentation. That choice suits the release because this material belongs in a cassette shell, not cleaned up or made respectable. At the same time, it should feel hidden, handled and slightly illicit.
Black Murder is the birth of the beast. Raw. Hateful. Unrelenting. If you want the origin rather than the aftermath, this is the one to keep close.
